While the world has moved on to newer models, this stalwart has been chugging along since 2004, with its current generation dating back to the George W. Bush presidency in the United States.
But here's the twist: despite its age, Toyota isn't ready to let it fade into history. In a surprising move, they've given this veteran van a new lease of life with a substantial update for 2026.
The HiAce's longevity is remarkable, especially in a market that thrives on novelty. Its latest iteration, entering its twelfth model-year revision, brings a host of modern features while retaining its trusted mechanical underpinnings. And this is where it gets interesting—the changes are subtle yet impactful.
On the outside, the HiAce maintains its iconic cabover silhouette, with only a new set of Bi-Beam LED headlights hinting at its updated status. But step inside, and you'll find a more contemporary space. An 8-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster now grace the dashboard, offering navigation and a Panoramic View Monitor. And for those chilly mornings, higher trims now feature heated front seats.
And this is the part most people miss—the real transformation lies in the safety department. The HiAce now boasts Toyota's latest Safety Sense suite, packing advanced driver assistance systems. Radar Cruise Control, Lane Change Assist, and an enhanced Pre-Crash Safety system are just a few features that elevate the driving experience and safety.

And while this generation continues, Toyota has hinted at an electric future for the HiAce with a concept revealed in 2025.
