Robert Thomas himself has acknowledged the trade rumors. While he does possess a full no-trade clause, he understands that with the Blues currently in last place in the Central Division, such speculation is an inherent part of the business. "We know where we’re at in the standings," Thomas recently stated. "When you’re in this position, stuff like that happens. You’ve just got to own it. I’m a big part of the reason we’re here to where we’re at. I know stuff like that’s going to come and go. It’s been happening for the last couple of years."
Thomas, as he hinted, is experiencing a dip in his performance this season, mirroring his team's struggles. He has recorded 11 goals and 33 points in 42 games. However, it's important to remember his track record: he is a three-time 20-goal scorer and has been a point-per-game player over the previous four seasons. He also has five years remaining on his current contract, with an Average Annual Value (AAV) of $8.125 million.
