For Android users, the Intune Company Portal plays a pivotal role in this scenario. If this specific app hasn't been updated to a newer version, it can lead to other managed work apps on the same device refusing to launch. This means that a single missed update could disrupt the entire mobile work environment. On the iOS side, the focus shifts from the Company Portal to the SDK or wrapper utilized, which predominantly impacts organizations that develop their own line-of-business applications.

Recognizing the potential disruptions this change could cause, Microsoft has provided a generous transition period. Since September 2025, companies have been informed about this policy shift through the Microsoft 365 Message Center. Although December 15, 2025, was initially suggested as the date when these changes would take effect, enforcement began shortly thereafter.
