Maine completes weekend sweep of Lindenwood with 7-2 victory
ORONO, Maine — The No. 15/18 Maine men’s ice hockey team cruised to a 7-2 win over Lindenwood on Sunday afternoon at Alfond Arena.
Maine grabbed a 1-0 lead in under two minutes, courtesy of Justin Poirier. Lindenwood answered with a goal just 27 seconds into the second period to knot the game..
A short-handed strike from Owen Fowler at the 12:00 mark of the second shifted the momentum in Maine’s favor, giving the Black Bears a 2-1 edge and igniting a stretch of six consecutive goals for Maine.
By the end of the second period, Jaden Lipinski and Thomas Pichette had pushed the lead to 4-1. In the third, Thomas Freel, Poirier, and Lukas Peterson extended the cushion to 7-1 with under five minutes remaining. Lindenwood added a late goal to finalize the score at 7-2.
